GUESS WHO'S TALKING… with Lynda Bryans

Broadcaster and former news anchor Lynda Bryans has returned to our TV screens  with her own chat show.

“Guess Who’s Talking” from Havelock Street Productions is a unique collaboration between Higher Education media students at Belfast Metropolitan College’s e3 campus and retired UTV staff.

The second series is coming soon and will air on  on NVTV. The new series guests include Father D’Arcy, Radio Ulster’s Hugo Duncan, local singer Malachi Cush, presenter Julian Simmons, football manager David Jeffries and novelist Emma Heatherington. Series Two

Programme 1- Martin Cosser & Malachi Cush

Welcome to a brand new series of "Guess Who's Talking" with Lynda Bryans.
We kick off with a powerful conversation with Martin Cosser, campaigning across the UK against knife crime after the loss of his son, Charlie.

Programme 1 - Emma Little Pengelly

The six-week run begins on Tuesday 14th January at 8pm on NVTV, repeated on Saturday evenings. It kicks off with an exclusive interview with Northern Ireland’s deputy First Minister, Emma Little Pengelly, who talks candidly about her role and the challenges she faces every day, including dealing with online trolls, the challenges facing women in leadership and how she unwinds from the pressures of political office.

Programme 2 - Cecil Thompson and Malachi Cush

In programme two, the original Mr. Showbiz, promoter Cecil Thompson, better known in entertainment circles as simply “CT” reveals the inside secrets on the UK’s first TV talent show, the forerunner to X-Factor - “Opportunity Knocks” and how his act “Sunshine” annoyed the show’s host, Hughie Green. Local singer Malachi Cush compares his own experience on the BBC’s “Fame Academy” decades later and reveals how a car accident changed his whole approach to life

Programme 3 - Gerry Kelly

In programme three the tables turned on someone who’s more comfortable asking questions than answering them. Chat show king Gerry Kelly discusses his most memorable guests on UTV’s long running KELLY SHOW, including the first ever TV interview with a 9-year-old Rory McIlroy, now a golfing legend, and reveals the guest who turned out to be a nightmare interviewee!

Programme 4 - Jim Neilly and Jonny Murphy

In programme four, veteran sports broadcaster Jim Neilly reveals why he’ll soon hang up his BBC headphones after a career in rugby and boxing commentary, bringing us some of the greatest sporting moments of all time. He’s joined by former Connacht player turned baker, Jonny Murphy, better known as “The Hungry Hooker”, now an Instagram sensation.

Programme 5 - Anne Hailes and Jilly Beattie

In programme five we hear from two of the most high-profile Journalists working in Northern Ireland – Anne Hailes and Jilly Beattie. Anne’s career began in the very early days of Ulster Television, and she reveals what happened when she knocked the door of a dressing room at Havelock House and it was opened by a young, shirtless Tom Jones! Jilly could be described as the Journalist’s Journalist, having scooped some of the biggest stories that have made world headlines – notably, events that led to the resignation of DUP Leader Jeffrey Donaldson in 2024.

Programme 6 - Carolyn Stewart

In programme six, the final show of the series, DJ Carolyn Stewart opens up about her experience of growing up as a person of colour during the ‘troubles’ here and how a chance newspaper ad propelled her to become one of our most popular local radio hosts - and the new and very different entrepreneurial twist her career has now taken.
